Papiripar is a 4-day festival taking place at different locations within the city of Hamburg that combines a temporary art exhibition with various concert and performance formats. It is curated by Felix Kubin, Nika Son and Florian Bräunlich. To every edition an artists‘ collective is invited that also takes on a curatorial function in the gallery space. The onomatopoetic festival name – a quasi-palindrome that points at the idea of a rotation – stands for a conceptual approach to pop music and its intersection with visual art, film and performance. Common live formats are to be broken up and expanded.

More art into music, more music into art.

In addition, the programme provokes a break-up of entrenched forms of performance in live music. The focus here is on experimental pop culture and artistic self-empowerment, the encounter of different disciplines and forms of thought. The spatial osmosis of gallery and stage creates an interdisciplinary art-music space that blurs the boundaries between concert, performance, installation and lecture.
